The new compact SUVs will be available for a mix of combustion, hybrid and electric powertrains letting the buyers choose according to their needs and wallets across different price ranges, fuel types and use-cases.
What’s coming soon
The following are some of the models that are going to be released or facelifted soon:
Mahindra XUV 3XO EV — The electric variant of Mahindra’s established compact SUV, XUV 3XO, is expected to come with a battery pack very similar to the one that is used in XUV400 EV. The company is planning to provide about 34.5 kWh and 39.4 kWh battery capacity as variants. The model intends to rival compact SUV’s like the EV-versions, and it could also widen the EV-SUV choices for Indian customers.
Maruti Suzuki Brezza (Facelift) — The Brezza is rumored to have a major update by the end of 2026. The facelift is reported to have made the car more stylish by giving it a redesigned rear and front, new LED headlamps, refreshed alloy wheels, and updated tail lamps connected by a full-width light bar. Furthermore, the new car features include ventilated seats, a 360-degree camera, and possibly Level-2 ADAS in the top trims. The engine options are expected to consist of the existing 1.5-litre petrol only.
Hyundai Bayon (next‑gen) — India will be getting its first-ever Hyundai Bayon around mid-2026. This SUV is predicted to be positioned under the more expensive compact SUVs and will appeal to those who are looking for a stylistic urban crossover. It will be built on the next-gen hatchback platform and may be provided with a smaller engine, targeting low cost and small dimensions.
Tata Punch (Facelift / Update) — The small SUV sector is about to get a revamped Punch. The refresh might involve little aesthetic changes, better interior and possibly more safety or convenience features while continuing with the same engine (gasoline or maybe CNG) options.
Renault Kiger (Facelift / Update) — The small SUV from Renalut has also been rumored to get an overhaul shortly. The alterations could be fairly limited: new front end, higher light configuration, small stylistic changes, and maybe new interior elements to remain competitive among budget SUVs.
India-based customers that recognize compact SUVs as their main prospective market will be able to choose from a larger variety of cars as these launches are soon to take place — not only in size and design but also in the type of energy used (petrol, hybrid or electric). Particularly for city dwellers, compact size plus modern amenities create a great combination of practicality and cutting-edge driving experience.
With the arrival of completely new EVs (like the XUV 3XO EV) and the rolling over of traditional ice cream-making SUVs (like the Brezza facelift), the segment will probably get more crowded thus resulting in better pricing and numerous more attractive offers in terms of money-to-value ratio.
